Taquan Hawkins

Honorary Team Captain

Five year old Taquan Hawkins is a walking, talking lesson in courage. Taquan was burned over 85 percent of his body in a fire in November 2008. Since then he has endured numerous skin grafts, surgeries, and endless physical therapy.

His uncle, Clifton Richardson a.k.a. Doodie, has helped Taquan re-learn things that most of us take for granted. Doodie and his family have taught Taquan how to walk again and how to do things with his right hand since his dominent left hand was badley burned. Doodie has even taught Taquan how to throw a football with his right hand.

Taquan is a shining example of courage and determination and his family that of enduring love and support.

Taquan's family grew a bit last season. September 4th 2009, Taquan led his extended family, the Menchville Monarchs, out of the locker room and on to the field at Todd Stadium for their season opener against Warwick H.S. A better source of inspiration for the Monarchs would be hard to find.

Taquan's medical expenses have been a tremendous burdon on the family. Anyone wishing to donate to an account set up to help Taquan's family can contribute to the:
